Cardinal of La RochefoucauldThe history of Saint ValentinGeneral Bertrand

In pursuance of decree November 2nd of 1789, "ecclesiastical properties may be used by the nation", the Lagnys land, dependant on La Pree abbey, awarded 76,700 pounds in 1791 to Philippe Gournichon who lived in Villemoriez, parish of Brion.

In 1793, as most places named "Saint", Saint Valentin lost its name for a few years to the benefit of "the commune of Cadoue", a river name in the surroundings.

The same year, six months after, François Poulain, priest at La Cadoue, was suspected and was put in jail, gave up his duties and gave his priesthood back. That did not prevent him from being removed to the visitation jail.
In February 1794, he was released thanks to the testimony of parishioners who recognized their former priest as a "revolutionary friend".
